Our #madeinsandwell Monday spotlight falls this week on metal bending giant Barnshaws Section Benders, which continued to provide services for essential sectors during the COVID-19 outbreak.

We featured Barnshaws as one of our #madeinsandwell stars back in 2018 and since then the company has continued to go from strength to strength, working on projects such as manufacturing chutes to help offshore vessels working on world-wide cable transition projects.

Founded in 1969 in Oldbury, Barnshaws specialises in metal bending services, plate rolling and bending, steel curving, pipe and tube bending, profile cutting, tube rolling and laser cutting.

The company’s headquarters and main manufacturing sites are in Tividale and Wolverhampton, but Barnshaws also has manufacturing facilities in Manchester, Scotland and Poland, enabling it to retain a wide customer base both in the UK and Europe.

The sectors Barnshaws usually works with include construction, marine, energy, offshore and transport sectors. During the COVID-19 outbreak it has continued to support essential projects by providing precision curved structural steel for the construction of facilities, including hospitals.

Its focus has been on key construction and fabrication work. Commercial director Greg North explained: “Working to the latest guidelines set out by the UK government, we have amended our practices to ensure that we can still provide essential metal bending services to support key sectors during the COVID-19 outbreak. This includes precision curved structural steel to help construction of important facilities, such as hospitals.

“We will continue to adhere to the latest government advice to ensure the continued safety of our employees as the situation develops, providing service updates to our customers when required.”
