A leading Middle Eastern manufacturing group has completed its single largest investment in the UK with the acquisition of a historic Sandwell manufacturer of paint and powder coatings.

Based in Rowley Regis, Thomas Howse was established in 1903 and manufactures a range of decorative, industrial and specialist paint and powder coatings.

The company supplies block paving and concrete sealers, scaffold and machinery ID paint, skip and refuse container paint, machine paint systems, polyurethane floor paints, gate and fencing paint systems, and chlorinated rubber paints in a wide selection of colours and gloss levels.

It also offers bespoke services to develop custom paints for its customer’s specific applications and prides itself on offering high quality but affordable solutions.

It has been acquired by the family-run Sheibani Group, which employs more than 2,000 people globally. The deal sees Thomas Howse joining another UK-based coatings company, T&R Williamson.

T&R Williamson is a Yorkshire-based company that was founded in 1775 and is believed to be the oldest family-operated paint manufacturer still in existence worldwide, with its colour archive dating back to the first road vehicle in the UK.

Both the UK firms acquired by the Sheibani Group will operate retaining their own identity and historical links as part of the Sheibani Group’s investment arm, UK Coatings Group.

The Sheibani Group currently owns 20 companies in the UK and overseas. The aim of the UK Coatings Group is to become the biggest and most innovative privately-owned supplier of coatings in the UK.
