New £15M Hotel & Office Development Coming to M5 Juncition 2
UK regeneration specialist St. Modwen has got planning approval for a £15m Grosvenor casino, hotel and office development in Oldbury, which will create jobs for the area.
Situated off the Birchley Island, the development will cover just over 2.5 acres of land and include a 24,000 square foot casino and entertainment complex (which should create around 120 jobs alone).
Also approved are plans for an 80-bed hotel and 5,382 square feet of office space across two linked two-storey office buildings.
Ian Romano, senior development surveyor for St. Modwen, said: “We have been working closely with Grosvenor Casinos and Sandwell Council to create a landmark building for the Birchley Island site which will help boost the local economy and deliver a vibrant destination at the gateway to Oldbury.
“We believe that this development will stimulate further regeneration on the site which will attract further inward investment benefitting both the immediate location and the wider region. Furthermore, in addition to the employment opportunities created by the new facilities on the completed development, jobs will also be created in construction and other related industries throughout the construction period.
“With planning approval now granted, we are committed to moving forward swiftly with this development and construction is expected to commence on the site this summer.”
