New care home to provide 100 jobs
Planning permission has been granted for a new 80-bed social care and health centre in Rowley Regis.
The three-storey building will provide 24-hour care to older Sandwell residents, creating 75 full-time and 25 part-time jobs at the site next to Harvest Road and Dudhill Road.
The facility will help ease the pressure on local hospitals – Sandwell, City and Russells Hall – by helping older people avoid hospital admission, allowing them to recuperate in a supported environment before going back to their own homes.
The land was previously occupied by Knowle House care home, which was demolished ten years ago. The site has remained vacant ever since, despite planning permission being granted for new buildings in 2013 and 2014.
This time, Sandwell Council itself is behind the proposals, which also include plans for a possible second facility at the Leasowes Intermediate Care Centre site in Smethwick.
Think Sandwell wishes the new care centre and its users all the best for the future. If you want to find out how we can help you with your business building projects, visit our property and planning pages.
