New climate campaign launches today!

SME Climate Hub logoFriday 28 May marks the launch of a new government initiative to tackle climate change. The Business Climate Leaders campaign is aimed at helping small and micro businesses commit to cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Ahead of the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow this November, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is encouraging small businesses across the country to do their bit to reverse climate change by committing to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

It is the latest phase of the Together For Our Planet initiative, a drive that brings together governments, big business, cities, regions and universities around the world in a mission to protect our shared global climate.

Making your business more environmentally-friendly can help lower running costs, create new jobs, encourage investment and attract new customers. Signing up to the official SME Climate Commitment means you will get access to assets and promotional materials to publicise your pledge, so you can show prospective customers evidence of your climate credentials. Your business will also be included on the UK Business Climate Hub’s list of businesses who have signed up, and have the chance to feature in the campaign.

No matter how small your business or what industry you’re in, your commitment could make a real difference – to your company, to your customers and ultimately to the future of our planet. To join the campaign, visit the website and complete the simple form.
