New Lidl store in Sandwell
Planning permission has been granted for a new Lidl superstore in Great Bridge, Tipton.
The current Lidl supermarket, near the Great Bridge interchange just off the A41, was constructed in 2004, but growing demand prompted the budget supermarket company to submit expansion plans, which were approved by Sandwell Council in March 2018.
The existing shop will now be demolished, along with a van sales company, to make way for a new building over twice the size and a car park with 120 spaces. This is Lidl’s second major investment in the region following the opening of a huge distribution centre next to the M6 in Wednesbury.
The development plans have been welcomed, not only because of the potential increase in jobs but also because the improved car parking could have a knock-on benefit for other nearby shops.
Think Sandwell wishes Lidl all the best and will be following construction progress with interest. For more information on how we can help your business expand, visit our Business Services pages.
