New West Bromwich hotel opens its doors
The £5m hotel development in West Bromwich that we first reported on back in July 2016 has just opened its doors. The new Travelodge is a welcome boost to the ongoing regeneration of the town.
The regeneration includes significant re-development in recent years, such as the opening of the New Square shopping centre and Tesco, the new college campus and leisure centre, and the creation of hundreds of new homes.
The 78-bed hotel has been built on an old brownfield site next to the West Bromwich Building Society’s headquarters in Providence Place. Work started on the project last summer and has taken 34 weeks to complete.
The development was completed on time and to budget by Bromsgrove-based contractor Hinton Group. The hotel has created 25 full and part-time jobs and more than 80 jobs were generated during the construction phase.
Hinton Group is also currently working on several more projects with Travelodge, including a £6m 78-bed Travelodge adjacent to Dudley’s Black Country Living Museum, which is on schedule to be completed at the end of July.
