Premises expansion in the pipeline for Black Country plumbers
Smith Brothers Stores, a commercial heating and plumbing merchant, has signed a ten-year lease on 28,000 sq ft of extra warehouse space in West Bromwich.
Smith Brothers, one of the largest and oldest independent merchants in the UK, was founded by Walter Smith in Leicester in 1897. It slowly expanded across the north of England and opened its first Midlands branch in Smethwick in 2008. It now has operations throughout the whole of the UK, from Newcastle to Southampton, Cardiff to Peterborough.
After a record year, in which turnover exceeded £100m, the company is looking to further expand its UK operations and has enlarged its Midlands base by taking on even larger premises at its current site at Alpha Park on Bevan Way.
Located just half a mile from the M5, Alpha Park is well-situated at the heart of the UK’s distribution network. Only one unit at the site remains available after the Smith Brothers deal was secured through agents Harris Lamb, acting for the landlord DTZ Investment Management.
