Regeneration to create hundreds of jobs in Smethwick
A major refurbishment of the Parkrose Industrial Estate could mean more than 300 extra jobs for Smethwick.
The development plans, which have been submitted to Sandwell Council, will create 26 new storage/distribution units at the Middlemore Road site, estimated to provide employment for over 300 people, depending on the businesses that end up occupying the premises.
Mint Property Developments Ltd, who recently purchased the site, is expected to spend several million pounds on the regeneration project which would cover 11,476 square metres of internal floor space and create units of blue brickwork at ground floor level, with grey insulated sheets above.
Construction has already begun on a bespoke unit for Loxam Ltd, who would join existing tenants such as Professional Polishing Services Ltd and Grinsells Skip Hire Ltd.
“Sandwell Council very much welcomes plans to develop brownfield sites with industrial units,” said Paul Mountford, Economic Regeneration Manager for Sandwell Council. “We know from experience that redevelopments such as this can create thriving hubs of activity which contribute to our local economy.”
