Robinson Brothers: a winning formula #madeinsandwell
This week’s #madeinsandwell Monday star is Robinson Brothers Limited, an independent manufacturer of speciality organic chemicals, based in West Bromwich.
A family business founded in 1869, Robinson Brothers expertly deals with processes such as amination, bromination, thiolation, oxidation, hydrogenation and heterocyclic chemistry. The company is one of the UK’s leading chemical manufacturers, serving industries that include pharmaceutical, agrochemical, life science, personal care and photographic.
The business employs research chemists, chemical engineers, electricians, operators and many more specialists, enabling a multi-disciplinary approach across the whole manufacturing process.
Robinson Brothers told Think Sandwell that the company puts its success down to an innovative and consultative way of working. This ensures the development of robust processes to produce material in an efficient manner which satisfies customers’ requirements.
The staff also share their passion for chemistry by engaging with local schools and supporting student placement opportunities. The business offers industrial placement schemes for undergraduates through partnerships with the University of Birmingham, University of Wolverhampton and Aston University.
Alongside this, Robinson Brothers has supported apprenticeship schemes to train young professionals within their engineering and science divisions, developing the next generation of chemistry workers. To upskill its own workforce the company has partnered with George Salter Academy.
In 2019 Robinson Brothers will be celebrating its 150th anniversary. We congratulate everyone involved in this success story #madeinsandwell.
