Sandwell in the Express & Star: Regeneration West Midlands Supplement

The Express & Star’s 28 page supplement ‘Regeneration West Midlands 2023’ highlights some of the region’s major projects, homes and transport schemes.

Published this week in the much loved regional evening newspaper, the supplement features some of Sandwell Council’s projects, as well as news on the Midlands Metro and new train stations across the Midlands.

A report on page 15 gives an update on the regeneration of Sandwell’s six towns – Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich.

It discusses how £1.8bn of investment will fund Sandwell’s projects over five years, including more than 4,300 new homes, ten education and skills facilities, new commercial and employment floor space – which will create and safeguard jobs – and support for new learners and apprentices.

More information about all of these projects can be found at https://regeneratingsandwell.co.uk/.

The article also looks at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre legacy. Following the Commonwealth Games 2022, work is now well underway on the legacy construction phase of the centre. It will open to the public this summer.
