Sandwell landmark building on market for £1m
A well-known Sandwell landmark is on the market. Transport House in West Bromwich has an asking price of £1m.
The four-storey commercial building situated at 9-17 Victoria Street is expected to attract major interest from developers. The sale is being handled by commercial property agency Bond Wolfe, which raised the possibility that the building could be transformed into homes, if planning permission could be secured from Sandwell Council.
Its current use is office space and the sale includes 35 car parking spaces to the rear. The building is being sold with full vacant possession, clearing the way for the possible redevelopment.
Transport House is located just off the High Street and is within an easy walk of the Metro line, bus station and all town centre amenities. The building extends to 15,121 sq ft, with more than 4,000 sq ft across each of the top three floors, a 1,894 sq ft ground floor and a 985 sq ft basement.
This town centre office block is the fourth one in West Bromwich to have gone on the market over the last two years. In 2017 both Society House and Parham House were sold, and in 2018 Metro Court sold to a private investor for £2.1m for conversion from offices into apartments.
Transport House is in the regeneration area of the town, which has undergone extensive development over recent years, including the New Square 143,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme.
The Western Gateway scheme at Carters Green has provided a range of residential and commercial properties, while Barratt Homes in conjunction with Sandwell Council is developing 450 homes at the Lyng.
