Sandwell manufacturer acquires new Smethwick head office

Hadley Group imageSmethwick manufacturer Hadley Group Plc has purchased the former fire service training academy on Dartmouth Road in Smethwick to house its new head office.

Hadley Group is the UK’s largest cold roll-formed sections manufacturer, supplying precision cold roll-formed components for almost every industry, including the automotive, aerospace, electro mechanical, furniture and security sectors.

Hadley Group was founded in the 1960s in a tiny back street premises in the Black Country. Today it is has five sites across the UK, along with facilities in Germany, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates but the UK, and more specifically the West Midlands, will always be at the heart of the Hadley Group’s operations.

The newly acquired 53,259 square feet, four-storey site set in 4.2 acres in Smethwick sits next to Hadley Group’s purpose-built steel fabrications factory at Gaitskell Way and will serve as its global headquarters as well as a new manufacturing facility.

Group Chairman of Hadley Group Stewart Towe said: “This acquisition will, in due course, provide the opportunity for us to create a 12-acre flagship manufacturing site at Dartmouth Road, thereby yielding significant manufacturing output gains while greatly increasing our size and flexibility to the market.”

Hadley Group sees the new site as an ideal opportunity to further expand its national operation.
