Serene Furnishings wide awake to growth opportunities
ONE of the UK’s largest suppliers of beds is wide awake to growth opportunities after expanding its Black Country base and taking on six new staff.
Serene Furnishings has increased its warehousing space from 75,000 sq ft to nearly 100,000 sq ft at the Hill Top Estate in West Bromwich to meet more orders after launching new collections at a major interiors exhibition earlier this year.
The new staff include a warehouse manager to oversee the bed distribution operation and the storage of more than 60,000 items of stock.
Serene Furnishings has been at Hill Top, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties Ltd, since the business was founded seven years ago. The company supplies beds in a variety of materials and styles.
Company founder and creative director Tasleem Tasab said: “We are continuing to grow and feel confident about the next few years. Through our portfolio, we have something for different price bands, in a wide choice of material, size, finish and style.
“We added to our range with our new Upholstered Collection and Faux Leather Collection of beds, sofa beds, day beds, ottomans and headboards at the start of this year, which naturally warranted more storage space.
“Our sustainable Hevea Wood Collection of beds and bedroom furniture, which was launched mid-way through 2011, is performing incredibly well and that too led to our requirement for additional warehousing capacity. Hill Top is an ideal, central location for us, as a national distributor to furniture and bed retailers.”
The Hill Top Estate has proved a popular location for LCP and it currently has just one unit vacant on the site.
