Springboard: online learning platform to benefit Sandwell residents and local businesses
Sandwell Council has teamed up with digital services and consulting company Infosys to launch Springboard – an innovative website that provides local people with free training courses covering a wide range of skills, from beginner to advanced levels. Springboard is designed to empower people, communities, and society with skills that can help them succeed in the 21st century.
Access for everyone
The platform offers more than 700 digital courses, covering topics such as digital learning, emerging technologies, and life skills. Training is provided in modular, bite-sized chunks, making it easy for people to learn at their own pace. Infosys Springboard is accessible to everyone, for free, to help increase digital literacy and ensure that nobody is left behind. The platform also provides support to small and medium-sized businesses that want to improve their services through digital efforts. Entrepreneurs can use the platform to realise their ideas, while business owners can upskill their staff to meet the demands of the digital age. By doing so, local businesses can benefit from a more digitally engaged community, leading to greater prosperity for Sandwell.
Springboard launch event
The platform was launched on Friday 17 March 2023, at West Bromwich Albion Football Club. Representatives from voluntary sector organisations, local libraries, schools and colleges, as well as the council, were in attendance. These organisations will help promote awareness of the learning platform across Sandwell and support people in signing up for it. Infosys Springboard is led by a team of experts who collaborate with curriculum partners, non-profits, and a global network of leading educational institutions. This ensures that the platform offers high-quality training courses that meet the needs of individuals, communities, and businesses alike.
Thirumala Arohi, Senior Vice President and Head – Education, Training and Assessment at Infosys, said that upskilling and reskilling are part of Infosys’ DNA, and they are delighted to be collaborating with Sandwell Council on this important project. He emphasised that ensuring equitable access to digital education is central to achieving a digitally engaged community.
