Tipton jobs boost plan gets the go-ahead

Sandwell Council have given the final go-ahead to a Tipton redevelopment scheme that could bring hundreds of jobs to the local area.

Major plans to build new units at the Vaughan Trading Estate on Sedgley Road East in Tipton were first given planning permission in October 2016, but now planners have approved ‘reserved matters’ of access, scale, layout and appearance, meaning that work can finally begin. Developers Dudley Unit Trust plan to demolish existing buildings and construct four large new units, complete with yard space and parking space for 132 cars.

In the design and access statement, agents Nexus Planning said the redevelopment “will provide a high quality designed industrial development offering a modern unit for the end user which will enhance the local economy and job prospects within the region.” It is hoped that the scheme will create over 800 jobs – both temporary construction contracts as well as longer term employment once the units are completed.

Think Sandwell wishes Dudley Unit Trust all the best and looks forward to bringing further updates on the scheme. To find out how we can help you with planning applications, visit our Property and Planning pages.
