Congratulations to Sandwell scaffolding supplier Generation (UK) for an increase in turnover in the last financial year. Its turnover rose to £97.4m for the year to 31 August 2021, up from £87m in 2020. Its pre-tax profits also climbed, going from £6.6m to £13.3m over the same period.

Generation is the largest UK supplier of non-mechanical access systems, scaffolding, groundworks, edge protection, safety and training products. It comprises three divisions – hire and sale, access and export.

Headquartered in Sandwell, the group has a nationwide network of branches and a lorry fleet that provides a full hire and sale service to the construction, events, industrial and utility sectors.

Generation’s specialist branches supply a full range of modular aluminium access towers, low-level access and safe access products and solutions. Its export division provides procurement solutions anywhere in the world, from scaffolding ancillaries to full sea freight containers of scaffolding.

In a statement in its annual report for the year ended 31 August 2021, the board said: “Trading conditions remained strong but competitive for the year ended 31 August 2021, with price increases and product availability affecting the market.

“The directors have taken active measures to ensure people and customers remain safe and healthy. Business sustainability is also kept under continual review with the aid of government assistance. With this support, the directors are optimistic that the company can continue to be successful.

“Post year end trading has remained strong during the period, with performance being in line with expectations.”

Onwards and upwards, Generation!
