Our #madeinsandwell Monday star for this week is H&R ChemPharm (UK) Limited of Dudley Road, Tipton. Part of Hamburg-based H&R Group, H&R ChemPharm has grown to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of speciality oil and wax products.

The Sandwell company supplies a range of market sectors, including telecommunications, pharmaceutical and energy. Its diverse range of products includes everything oil based from candle wax to cable filling compounds.

You’ll probably find H&R ChemPharm products in all areas of your home, from MDF to moisturiser and textiles to tyres. The company supplies blended wax for products as diverse as food packaging, equestrian track surfaces and adhesives, as well as oil and wax emulsions used in the manufacture of waterproofing agents for construction materials.

It also helps to prevent and manage leaks from waterways of any size through its cost-effective water-blocking products while its oil gels and petroleum jellies are used by the medical and cosmetic industries.

The company prides itself on working closely with its customers to meet their specific application requirements, improving their processes and reducing costs. It intends to remain at the forefront of the global market in the supply of speciality wax and oil blends by developing new and innovative product solutions.

Its custom-built manufacturing facility in Tipton is on a site that has been used to manufacture oils and lubricants for over 170 years. The site’s long history dates back to the 1840s when Joseph Batson and Co dealt in animal and tallow fats, the forerunners of today’s modern lubricants.

The historical site was acquired by The H&R Group, a global player in the development and manufacturing of chemical-pharmaceutical specialty products, in 2004 when H&R ChemPharm (UK) was established. Through investment in modern plant and facilities H&R ChemPharm grew to become the industry leader that it is today.

On top of all that industry and innovation H&R ChemPharm still manages to find time to maintain close links with the local community through its involvement with local schools and the Black Country Living Museum.
