Sirus Automotive, a provider of wheelchair accessible vehicles based at Britannia Park in Wednesbury, has secured a refinance package of half a million pounds to support its new research and development programme.

Established in 2004, the company converts and adapts vehicles for people with mobility issues, and has helped over 15,000 passengers and drivers get out and about. Three years ago, David Gee and Andrew Ramsbottom of Advert Partners LLP bought into the business, and have overseen a 60 per cent growth in turnover.

This is largely due to the launch, in 2018, of a new conversion which allows wheelchair users to drive or travel as a front seat passenger. Its success has led to new distribution contracts in Europe and New Zealand, as well as the expansion of its office space in Wednesbury and a new data system to manage the increasing number of customer records.

The refinance package from HSBC UK will enable the continuing development of new products, and consolidate Sirus’ expansion into new markets.

In a news story on the Sirus Automotive website, managing director Simon Pearson said: “We have a dedicated R&D team that takes a fresh approach to vehicle conversions. … We are passionate about our continual new product development programme, which aims to meet our customers’ every-day mobility needs.”
