Sandwell’s Premier League football club has been listed among Deloitte Football Money League’s top 30 highest-earning clubs in the world.

With a revenue of £96.3m (€126.6m) for the 2014/15 season, West Bromwich Albion has entered the table for the first time at number 29. At the top is Real Madrid with a revenue of €577m, while Albion’s fellow Midlands teams Aston Villa and Stoke City feature in the chart at 23 and 27 with revenues of €148.8m and €130.9m respectively.

A record number of nine Premier League clubs have made it into this year’s top 20, compiled by the global firm Deloitte, which deals in audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, tax and related services. That’s one more than in last year’s table, helped by a 10 per cent strengthening of sterling over the euro.

Broadcasting revenue is of course vital to the bank balances of football teams – one of the reasons we hope Albion and struggling Aston Villa will both remain in the Premier League next season.
