Quality care #madeinsandwell: empowering people to achieve better outcomes

This Monday’s #madeinsandwell spotlight falls on Oldbury care provider Select Lifestyles, which provides services for adults with learning disabilities across the West Midlands.

Select Lifestyles operates with the ethos that everyone is different and entitled to the right support for their individual needs. It doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all solution and therefore has a dedicated specialist team that develops support plans tailored completely to each individual.

It offers a wide variety of support to those who need it, from shared housing, self-contained flats, day opportunities and respite or short-break services across the region.

Select Lifestyles was established in 2007 by a dedicated team with backgrounds spanning the health service, local authority and independent care providers. Most of the team’s experience comes from within the field of learning disabilities and mental health, meaning that between them they have the relevant knowledge and expertise to provide excellent levels of care.

The first service the company opened was a day centre in Birmingham back in 2007, supporting people from the local surrounding areas. Since then is has expanded its services year on year and last year featured at number 12 in our Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies Index 2019.

The fast-growing company now provides supported living services across 25 sites, ranging from purpose-built properties to once dilapidated buildings and churches that have been adapted, as well as numerous smaller family-style homes.

Its aim is to help people live more independent lives within their own purpose-built accommodation or shared home.

Despite the fast growth, Select Lifestyles has never comprised on the standard of service it offers and its commitment to delivering quality care is demonstrated by its CQC ratings. All of its registered locations are rated as Good by the Care Quality Commission.

Managing Director Nick Horton, said “the company’s vision remains the same as when it was launched 13 years ago.

“We want to embrace the individuality of each person we support, with a strong emphasis on maximising personal potential”.

Select Lifestyles also offers a mental health wellbeing in the workplace course. To find out more visit our Sandwell workplace wellbeing page.
