    Birmingham University

The University of Birmingham Business Club is a network that gives businesses and academics the opportunity to meet and develop mutually-beneficial collaborations. Are you looking to innovate within your company? Are you looking to fund a programme of research and development? Could your company provide internships for our student populace? The Business Club is the point of contact to answer these questions and more.

Hosted every two months, the Club's Breakfast Briefings are themed around business-relevant presentations and networking time. Breakfast and refreshments are provided free of charge, with the University's support team on hand to answer any questions that may arise about innovation funding.

Calculating the value of your company

In December, the Breakfast Briefing will be focusing on how businesses can estimate the value of their organisations. Our speakers, Stephen Whittaker and Michael Jones of PwC, will examine how Intellectual Property can be valued, and how this is reflected in the equity value of a company. Further speakers and pitchers will be announced closer to the event.

Short, 4-minute elevator pitch slots are also available if you would like to draw attention to a particular business collaboration opportunity.

In collaboration, Dr Keith Glanfield, Aston Business School and Harris Interactive have taken a long hard look at what makes a brand relevant and sustainable in a modern day context. The prevailing models for measuring brand effectiveness are largely based on examining indicators of past and present performance, and can fall short of telling brand managers anything about their brand’s future potential. What was a strong brand yesterday may still be strong today – but what does tomorrow look like? Will your brand still be as relevant?

Keith will present the thinking and research foundations behind the brand sustainability model, to address the question, “How sustainable is your brand?”. In revealing the results of the hi brands™ research study, the Harris Interactive team will share how measuring sustainability changes the way we think about category and sector success, along with how this new set of measures supports brand managers to manage and track future brand success.

-Tired of spending money on marketing gimmicks, without seeing predictable results?

-Unsure of how to identify a sales or business development candidate who can really sell ?

Find out how you can get the results you and your business deserves by using different techniques, changing behaviours, and shifting attitudes.
