Psychology influences the built environment and vice-versa. The gains from this symbiosis can be maximised. Psycon (Psychology in Construction) provides a better understanding of human personality, effort and behaviour. The forthcoming Psycon workshop will brainstorm and explore how human activities in the built environment can be more efficient. The event provides a forum for practitioners and academics to explore how the built environment can be more efficient with its human endeavours.
The workshop will use the lens of psychology to examine human factors, research and pedagogy in the built environment. The workshop will deliberate on questions such as:
- How does the built environment impact on the wellbeing of people?
- How are individual variabilities factored in built environment pedagogy and practice?
- Can psychology influence the motivation, coping ability, leadership strength, innovation potential, etc. of built environment personnel?
- What are the impacts of user behaviour on the built environment?
Academics and practitioners from the built environment and psychology will be discussing areas of mutual benefit and prospects for future research and curriculum development.
NB: There are a few ‘5-minutes’ slots for attendees to showcase their interests, teaching or research.
Venue: Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Wolverhampton, Wulfruna Street, WV1 1LY
