Krazy Races is speeding its way to Sandwell!
A fun national award-winning event is coming to Sandwell. In October this year Krazy Races will be holding a wacky races style event at Sandwell Valley Country Park in West Bromwich with the aim of raising money for charity.
The organiser of the event Shrewsbury Wacky Races launched in 2019 and won a prestigious national award – Best New Event in the UK from NOEA (National Outdoor Event Association). Last year’s event at Shrewsbury Quarry Park raised more than £20,000 for a variety of different causes.
Krazy Races’ charity partner for the Birmingham and Sandwell event is Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which is looking for teams to raise money. However, if your business already has a chosen charity it is also welcome to enter a team to raise money for that cause.
The races are a great opportunity for local businesses to get involved in a fun event while raising money for charities and doing some team building along the way!
Spectators are also being encouraged to come and cheer on the wacky and outrageous soapbox downhill racers at the first event of this kind to take place in the region. In their hand-crafted karts the racers will have to negotiate chicanes, obstacles and water on the course.
There are prizes for the best dressed competitors, showmanship and innovation, as well as the fastest soapbox karts, of course. The event is for amateur teams and is meant to be a whole lot of fun, without anyone taking themselves too seriously. All you need to enter is courage, wacky inspiration and a bit of luck!
The races will be part of a knockout-style competition, with the ten fastest cars making it through to the final, where they will battle to take home the winner’s trophy.
The event takes place on Sunday 4 October so there’s plenty of time to design and build your kart! Or you can get involved by going along to watch for free and there’s plenty of entertainment promised, including street food and drink, and kids’ activities.
To register your interest in entering a team or for more information about the event and the regulations surrounding the karts you can enter visit the Krazy Races website.
