    Chamber Business Training

    Prospects

    On Wednesday 17 January you are invited to join Prospects at a conference on employing ex-offenders. The event takes place at Canalside, Birmingham.

    The event is your opportunity to find out how employing ex-offenders can help you meet your future employment needs and social responsibility agenda. This half day conference will give you positive information on how to address your skills needs, in light of Brexit, declining demographic, and the development of the region, by employing an often forgotten yet no less important community, ex-offenders.

    On Wednesday 17 January the University of Birmingham invite you to attend the grand opening of their new Medical Devices Testing and Evaluation Centre (MD-TEC). This will be held at the Institute of Translational Medicine,  Birmingham.The launch event will feature:

    ·         An opportunity to network

    On Friday 19 January  there will be a business breakfast hosted by West Bromwich Albion Football Club combining an interesting speaker with the chance to network, as well as a breakfast roll.

    In addition, Tristram Hooley, Director of Research at The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC), will be presenting on CEC campaigns and how the Enterprise Adviser Network programme fits into the future skills agenda. Tristram wrote the recent State of the Nation report for CEC, which was influential in the new Careers Strategy published in December 2017.

    On Tuesday 23 January the Knowledge Transfer Network invite you to attend a workshop that will feature a range of speakers from the agri-food and imaging sectors, presenting examples of ongoing projects. This will be held at The Studio, Birmingham.

    The agri-food sector faces many challenges, particularly the need to increase production to feed a growing population whilst limiting environmental impacts. The decreasing cost of cameras and sensors as well as a huge increase in computing power means that new imaging technologies are now viable options for the agri-food sector.

    These emerging imaging technologies will add value across the sector, from optimising inputs using precision agriculture to increasing the efficiency of food manufacturing lines. You can read an overview of recent sector developments here.

    AIM for the Black Country is a service being offered to Small & Medium sized Enterprises (SME’s) to enhance your growth and competitiveness. Through a partnership arrangement between the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, Black Country Growth Hub, Local Authorities, Black Country Consortium and the University of Wolverhampton you will be able to access a coordinated approach to a range of business support, advice and workshops. You can enter the programme through any of the aforementioned partners who will then manage the process from start to finish.

    This workshop is funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and there is no cost to eligible SME’s taking part in this programme. There is a small amount of paperwork required to assess eligibility and evidence actions and outcomes.

    • must be based within the Black Country
    • must be in operation for over 12 months

    Your business must not have:

    • more than £180,000 worth of State Aid over the past 3 years
