    Innovation vouchers

Innovation vouchers are available to eligible local businesses in the West Midlands through a consortium that comprises Aston University, Birmingham City University and the University of Wolverhampton.

    How innovation vouchers work

Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), they allow small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Greater Birmingham and Solihull, the Black Country and the Marches regions to:

    • Apply for financial support to access external expertise with knowledge base organisations (research institutes) to support an innovation project
    • Access free support in the form of workshops to become more competitive and manage growth effectively.

This scheme targets SMART specialisation sectors and aims to develop new processes and systems to improve efficiency of SMEs and to bring new products and services to market.

The project will deliver 190 vouchers in the years 2016-2019. Each SME needs to match £1 received as an innovation voucher with £1 of its own company funds.

On Thursday 28 September the Chamber invite you to join their  international trade team to discover export opportunities for your business in 10 European markets. You can pre-book Skype hosted 1:1 sessions with experts to help identify which markets are right for you and get advice on growing your business there. This will be held at the Wolverhampton Racecourse, Wolverhampton.

Europe is the most important regional market for UK exports and the Midlands. Trading with Europe currently represents some 45% of midlands exports and has been this level for some time; it is literally a second home market for most UK companies.

    Your business will benefit from:

    • Live links to each country for an overview of opportunities
    • Real advice from experienced local exporters
    • Information on the support available to you from local organisations
    • Fully facilitated, private Skype meeting(s) with in-country experts.
